The reaming shell plays a crucial role in coupling the drill bit with the core barrel. It is compatible with both conventional and wireline core barrel types. Its primary purpose is to ensure that the borehole diameter meets the required standard. The use of a reaming shell serves to stabilize the core barrel, even when a new bit replaces the old one. This useful tool provides the necessary clearance for the new bit, ensuring that it can function optimally. The reaming shell also protects the core barrel from abrasion, extending its life.

Reaming shells can be used in a wide range of geological conditions, from broken and abrasive to consolidated and non-abrasive formations. Our available options are 6", 10", and 18" in length, ensuring that a proper fit can be found for your drilling project. It should be noted that reaming shells tend to be physically longer than standard types. To compensate for this difference, the use of an appropriate inner tube extension is necessary.
